cardinals in winter. i'm soooo original!

at least i chose to forgo the pine trees and snow.
i wanted citrus trees, because a heavy grapefruit tree reminds me of winter as much as a snowy spruce. but the complexity broke the format of the series i'm doing.

this is what Florida looks like now. blue and brown. and cold.

so fortunately, these irritating little bastards keep quiet!
no really.
i hate cardinal song.
they start calling as soon as i need to go to sleep, right on top of my head! i have chased them away before like the bed-headed blanket-wrapped grouchy old lady i am when they start that shit.

they are so lovely to look at though. i like the females' coloring; the solid red is so overpowering.

and if they look familiar... it is because i recycled the bird from another picture. the girl one anyway. XD
